Silver Birch
The susurrations in the silver birch woodlands bring calm and tranquillity. The ghost like qualities of the trees draw you in and wraps around you bringing comfort, then you look and see the wonders of the trees.
I work in Stoneware Clay and use foraged wild clay from Dartmoor and the Isle of Wight, applying mark making techniques on the pieces giving different textures and affects. Each piece is bisque fired to 980 degrees C for 24 hours. I then apply oxides and a matt glaze before refiring to 1240 degrees C for further 24 hours.
I exhibit locally in Galleries, Craft Fairs & Devon Open Studios. I run workshops from my studio in East Ogwell for small groups 3-6 people. We explore a variety of different making techniques & processes.
In addition to the Silver Birch more examples of my work can be found on my website.
