Michael Taylor
Lone Ash Pottery is a working pottery located on the outskirts of the village of Ashwater in the heart of the Devon countryside. Our pottery is hand-thrown by Michael Taylor, then glazed and decorated by him. In addition to Michael's colourful, one-off stoneware and porcelain bowls and jugs Michael hand-throws a wide range of stoneware domestic pottery: Tableware and Mugs, and Kitchen Pottery which we sell from the pottery and in shops and galleries throughout the UK.
Michael studied ceramics at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham. After working as an Account Manager in the publishing industry for over a decade, Michael Taylor Ceramics was set up in 2005. His beautiful bowls are thrown, turned and altered to create asymmetric forms. Michael glazes in white, decorating with aquamarine, turquoise, blues, greens and vibrant orange.
Michael began selling his work at David Mellor Design in Chelsea, London and Hathersage, Sheffield in 2009. His work proved so popular that in 2014 he collaborated with David Mellor Design to develop a comprehensive range of his unique handmade tableware. Michael is a member of Contemporary Applied Arts, London.
